Tanako Reiki

Donation-based / Pay what you wish

Master Tanako’s method (Japan) consists of transferring energy—whether of human, animal, or plant origin—by channeling it through the body of the person being treated. This is done without any specific hand passes or the use of mental or physical symbols before or during the session.

Reiki is applied directly to the painful area or to the physical and/or emotional blockage.

The duration varies case by case, but typically lasts between 20 and 30 minutes.

Detox Foot Massage

The "Detox" massage focuses on specific pressure points designed to eliminate toxins from your body. It is ideal after surgery, for example.

Relaxing Foot Massage

This relaxing foot massage focuses on specific pressure points and massage zones designed to not only relax your feet but your entire body as well.

Duration: approximately 20 minutes.

Structural Realignment

Donation-based / Pay what you wish

The treatments performed during this session aim to realign bones or muscles that may have shifted due to an incorrect movement, accident, illness, etc.

This is achieved by following a Japanese method called "Itamimasen," which is completely painless.

Therapeutic Treatments

Donation-based / Pay what you wish

I also treat all types of pain you may be experiencing, using Reiki and/or manual manipulation when necessary.

Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your symptoms; together, we will find the best way to address them.

A Brief History of Massage

Back

Classical massage has its origins in ancient times in the Far East, among Asian civilizations (Chinese, Persian, Egyptian, etc.).

In 2700 BC, the Chinese physician Kong Fu compiled an extensive list of massage techniques and gymnastic exercises.

These descriptions proved extremely valuable for the centuries that followed.

During the era of the great Greek physicians—particularly Hippocrates (400 BC)—the practice of massage was introduced to Europe.

Roman physicians, including Galen (200 BC), also used manual therapies. Their influence continued through the Middle Ages and helped ensure that the art of touch was not lost.

From the 9th century onward, Arab scholars preserved and maintained the practice of massage as well as the teachings of Galen.

In France, the scientist Ambroise Paré (1550) revisited the anatomical and physiological foundations of massage.

Similarly, in Germany, Paracelsus (1500) successfully used this form of therapy.

The 17th century saw a proliferation of texts on massage—some very serious and even excessive, others less reliable and oriented more toward cosmetic applications.

In the 18th century, massage became part of a group of treatments known as “mechanical therapies” and reached its peak in France, from where the word massage itself originates, along with the terminology used to describe its techniques.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the Swede Per Henrik Ling linked massage to movement therapy and modernized its meaning.

The modern form of massage is attributed to Zabludowski and Kirchberg.

Zabludowski was a Russian military physician and director of the massage school at the University of Berlin. Kirchberg was his successor.
